Argentine tango orchestra
Tango Harmony Budapest argentine Tango ensemble is a popular participant of European tango festivals, and milongas and is well known in milongas of Buenos Aires.
The ensemble was founded by Katalin Bartha 20 years ago.
The musicians have the highest classical musical education, captivated by the pulsation of Astor Piazzolla's music, but their repertoire have developed a lot in the direction to the traditional tango pieces which are the favourites of the milongas.
They participated in numerous master classes, individually and as an ensemble. Recently they are able to provide professional help for starting tango music formations.
They became dedicated researchers and performers of tango music; they have even learned to dance tango.
Their target audience are the tango dancers anywhere in the world. The backbone of their wide repertoire is made up of the most famous tangos, valses and milongas of the milongas, in a very danceable performance, so all their performances are a great hit.
Moreover, they are also favourite performers for many concerts and shows, where with the help of music going beyond the danceable tango (Piazzolla, contemporary authors and György Lázár's music for the orchestra) they have the chance to show their virtuosity and featured musical qualities.
Members of the orchestra:
Alejandro Szabo (arg) - bandoneon
Katalin Bartha (hun) - violin, violincornetto, vocal, art director
Péter Bartha (hun) - bandoneon
György Lázár (hun) - piano, vocal
Ottó Nagy (hun) - violoncello, viola da gamba
Gábor Piukovics (hun) - doublebass
They have performed in many theatre dance performances, in the National Dance Theatre and the Hungarian Palace of Arts (MÜPA) Festival Theatre, collaborating with all Hungarian professional tango dancers and teachers, as well as countless Argentinian and European artists.
Their own series in Budapest is the Harmony Tango Salon concert-show with outstanding dancers, and the Milonga del Angel, which is the only milonga of live music not only for Hungary, but it is exceptional on the wider region’s tango scene. This has been operating since January 2018.
